Entering 4th Season • Two-time PSAC East Coach of the Year • 6 All-PSAC Singles Selections • 2 All-PSAC Doubles Selection
Troy Haas enters his fourth season as the head coach of the women's tennis program in 2026-27.
In just three seasons as head coach of ESU’s women’s tennis team, Haas has been named the PSAC East Coach of the Year twice and produced eight All-PSAC selections, matching the program's total over the previous 11 seasons. Since 2005, when the PSAC split women’s tennis into East and West divisions, Haas is one of six coaches to win Coach of the Year honors, and is the fifth to do so in consecutive years.
Haas’ teams have continuously built on the success of the groups before them, reaching even higher heights in 2025-26. After leading ESU to a 19-5 record, 13-straight wins, and an undefeated 5-0 in-conference record, Haas was an easy choice to be named the PSAC East Coach of the Year in back-to-back seasons. With the Warriors winning the PSAC East regular season title, ESU had multiple players stand out up and down its lineup. In singles play, Ariel Kelsick and Audrey Conover each won 17 matches, tied for the second-most all-time. Jenna Kastell and Kelsick both enjoyed stellar seasons, making First Team All-PSAC East in singles competition, as their winning percentages of .750 and .739, respectively, ranked fourth and fifth in the record book. On the doubles side, those two made the conference’s First Team as a tandem, while Theresa Bauer went 20-6 for the most doubles wins and second-best winning percentage by an ESU player. Alice Ehrenlechner and Conover also made the All-PSAC East Second Team as singles players. ESU finished its season with a PSAC Semifinal appearance and earned a seventh-place ranking in the final regional poll released by the ITA.
In his second season as head coach, Haas was named PSAC East Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to a PSAC quarterfinal appearance for the first time since 2017-18 and a semifinal berth for the first time since 1979-80. The team also broke the program’s single-season wins record with 18 victories. Under his leadership, ESU earned three PSAC East First Team selections: singles, Marketa Beladova and Lea Stefanovic; doubles, Marketa Beladova and Louise Boyer-Vidal. Beladova was named PSAC East Athlete of the Year, while Ariel Kelsick earned Freshman of the Year honors and broke the program’s single-season wins record. The Warriors ended the season eighth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic regional rankings.
ESU made strides in the first season under Haas as the Warriors earned their first victory since October 14, 2015, with a 9-0 win over Cedar Crest. Back on March 25, graduate student Alessia Bianchini was tabbed as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week.
Haas comes to the Poconos after serving as the assistant racquets director for the last five years at Lehigh Country Club, where he coached tennis, platform tennis, and pickleball for junior high school and adult players.
Prior to that, Haas was an assistant coach for the men's and women's tennis teams at King's College for a pair of seasons. He helped the men's squad reach the MAC Freedom Championship in the spring of 2018 and earn a trio of First Team All-MAC selections. On the women's side, Haas coached the MAC Rookie of the Year in Emily Fernandez, who went on to win the 2018 MAC Women's Tennis Individual championship in the No. 1 singles bracket. Additionally, the women's team had two First Team All-MAC selections.
As a student-athlete at Wilkes, Haas was a three-time Second Team All-MAC Freedom selection and helped the Colonels win the MAC Freedom Conference championship all four years. He compiled a 66-19 record in singles and a 60-5 mark in doubles. Haas earned All-Academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and helped Wilkes earn their first ITA ranking in program history.
Haas graduated from Wilkes in 2017 with a Bachelor of Business Administration as a double major in business management and sport & event management.
