Enters 4th Season In 2026 • Career Record: 25-14-13 • 18 All-PSAC Selections
Tom Mustac '03 M'10 enters his fourth season as the ESU men’s soccer head coach in 2026.
Under Mustac, ESU has won at least eight games in each of his three seasons while earning 18 All-PSAC selections. The Warriors earned six All-PSAC selections in 2025 to go along with two major awards, as Hunter Stites was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Year, and Owen Rennie gave ESU consecutive PSAC East Rookie of the Year honorees. Stites became the program's second defender to garner the recognition, the first Warrior to do so since 2017. The duo earned D2CCA All-Region and All-PSAC East First Team honors, as Nathan Bradway and Jace Seara gave the Warriors four selections on the all-conference team. Ethan Flickinger and Drew Nyce, the 2024 PSAC East Rookie of the Year, rounded out the Warriors’ All-PSAC honorees.
In Mustac’s first season as head coach after working under the interim tag in 2023, ESU placed five athletes across the All-PSAC East Teams. The Warriors won eight games overall and four PSAC East matches in back-to-back seasons, as Cateyano Diaz and Ignasi Cucurella Tuset made the All-PSAC East First Team. Cucurella Tuset, a midfielder, was also named to the D2CCA All-Region Second Team, as Mustac has coached four players in three seasons who have earned All-Region recognition. Nyce, the division’s top freshman, led the trio of him, Stites, and Benny Goodrich on the Second Team.
Mustac led ESU to an 8-3-6 record during his first season leading his alma mater. A total of seven Warriors received All-PSAC East recognition, with Colby Raymond and Cucurella Tuset earning All-Region honors by D2CCA. Cucurella Tuset also earned national recognition by making the CSC Academic All-American Third Team, becoming the sixth player in program history to earn the achievement.
Mustac was a member of four consecutive PSAC Championship teams at ESU (2000-03), including the Warriors' 2000 NCAA DII Final Four team. He previously served as an assistant coach at ESU from 2009-14 under Jerry Sheska and Rob Berkowitz. He most recently served as Keystone Athletics Director of Coaching.
"I am incredibly excited and humbled for the opportunity to come back home and serve as the interim head coach for men's soccer at East Stroudsburg University," said Mustac of his new appointment. ESU is a special place for my family and me. I met my wife, Kelli, at ESU, and ESU is where it all began for me as a player and coach.
"I would like to thank President Long and Director of Athletics Dr. Allen Snook for providing me this incredible opportunity," continued Mustac. "I look forward to continuing to build upon the successes of Coach Sheska and Coach Berkowitz. As a proud student-athlete, alumnus, and previous assistant coach in the program, I have followed the team closely, and now that I have been allowed to lead the program, it is truly a privilege. I look forward to working with the administration, alumni, players, and campus community towards creating champions in the classroom and on the field."
Mustac was a three-time All-PSAC forward, registering 41 career goals in three seasons, which is tied for sixth all-time among Warriors, while his 106 points rank fifth in program history. He scored 13 goals during the 2000 season, which saw the Warriors advance to the NCAA Semifinals, posting a hat trick in a 4-2 win over New Hampshire College at Eiler-Martin Stadium during the NCAA Quarterfinals. Mustac helped ESU to four PSAC Championships (2000-03) and a pair of regional championships (2000, 2002). He was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team in 2001.
The Clifton, N.J. native earned a bachelor's degree in management/economics from ESU in 2004 and later earned a teaching certificate at William Paterson University in 2008.
