BLOOMSBURG - Sophomore Ian Allen and redshirt junior Matt Festa both notched complete game victories, leading East Stroudsburg University to a crucial sweep (6-3, 9-2) at Bloomsburg in PSAC East baseball on Friday afternoon.

ESU (27-16, 12-14) entered the weekend needing to win three of four games vs. Bloomsburg (13-21, 10-16) to secure a PSAC Tournament berth, and can advance to the postseason with a win in Saturday's doubleheader at 1 p.m. at Mitterling Field.

Junior 1B Dylan Tamecki was 5-for-7 with two doubles and three RBI in the doubleheader, and redshirt junior 3B Drew Hercik hit a two-run homer after Bloomsburg took a 3-0 lead in the opener.

Allen improved to 5-2, blanking the Huskies after allowing a three-run homer to Damin Muth in the first inning. He scattered eight hits, struck out three and walked one.

Festa (6-4) produced one of his top outings of the season in game two, allowing just one earned run on five hits. He struck out eight and didn't issue a walk.

Redshirt sophomore SS Conner Crookham, who returned from a nearly three-week absence due to injury with three hits and two home runs in Wednesday's 11-0 win vs. Mercy, was 4-for-8 with two RBI in the No. 3 spot in the order.

ESU enters Saturday with a two-game lead over Bloomsburg and Lock Haven, both at 10-16, for the fourth and final playoff spot in the PSAC East.  Lock Haven hosts Kutztown after winning two games at KU on Friday.

GAME 1 - W 6-3

Hercik's two-run homer closed the Bloomsburg lead to 3-2 in the top of the second, Allen stranded three Huskies in the bottom half, and the Warriors plated two in the top of the third to take a 4-3 advantage.

Redshirt sophomore 2B Jay Young and redshirt sophomore OF Casey Saverio hit one-out singles and moved up on a failed pickoff attempt. Crookham scored Young with an RBI groundout and Tamecki hit a two-out single to score Saverio with the go-ahead run.

Allen held Bloomsburg at arms length and ESU added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Saverio was hit by a pitch with two outs, stole second and scored on a throwing error after an infield single by Crookham.

In the sixth, Allen led off with a triple and scored on an RBI single by Hercik for a 6-3 lead.

Allen allowed just a two-out single in the sixth and a leadoff single in the seventh, erased on a pickoff, in the final two frames.

Tyler Hill fell to 3-3 for Bloomsburg, allowing six runs (four earned) on 10 hits in a complete game effort.

Tamecki was 3-for-4 and Crookham and Hercik had two hits each for ESU.

GAME 2 - W 9-2

The Warriors dominated the nightcap, leading 9-0 before Bloomsburg scored two runs (one earned) off Festa in the seventh.

Young drew a leadoff walk and scored on a two-out RBI double by Tamecki in the first, then the Warriors scored four runs in the second to take a 5-0 lead. Crookham and Tamecki had RBI singles after redshirt junior OF Matt Walewski singled and junior DH Brett Bonn walked to open the inning.

ESU led 7-0 after three innings as Bonn hit a two-run homer for his first career blast for the Warriors.

ESU added to its lead in the fifth and sixth innings, taking advantage of Bloomsburg errors in both frames.

Crookham, Tamecki and Walewski had two hits each.
