EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University is the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Division II Tournament's Atlantic Regional and will take on Gannon in a rematch of Sunday's PSAC championship game in the first round on Saturday at Virginia State.
ESU earned the PSAC's automatic bid with the conference's tournament championship, topping Gannon 89-67 on Sunday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Warriors have won 10 straight games entering the NCAA Tournament including wins vs. Kutztown (85-71), Edinboro (98-75) and Gannon.
Virginia State, the No. 1 seed, takes on No. 8 seed Virginia Union; No. 3 Wheeling Jesuit plays No. 6 West Chester and No. 4 West Liberty has No. 5 Shippensburg as the PSAC East gained three of the region's eight postseason spots.
The ESU-Gannon winner will play the Wheeling Jesuit-West Chester winner in the second round on Sunday.
ESU is in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in school history and fifth time in the last nine years, qualifying in 1990, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2018.
The Warriors have advanced to the Atlantic Region championship game twice, in 1990 and 2014.
The PSAC title was the fourth in school history, and the third in the last seven years (1990, 2012, 2014, 2018).
ESU ranks third in the Atlantic Region in wins (194) in the last nine years, trailing only West Liberty (272) and IUP (234).
ESU's five NCAA Tournament appearances since 2010 are tied for third-most in the region - West Liberty has made all nine, IUP seven and ESU and Fairmont State five each.
ESU will meet Gannon in the NCAA Tournament for the third time, the most against any opponent. Gannon won 72-63 for the regional title in 1990, and ESU won 66-58 in the second round in 2014 at Koehler Fieldhouse.
