ETTRICK, Va. - East Stroudsburg University will compete for the first NCAA Division II Atlantic Region championship in program history when the Warriors take on Shippensburg on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Virginia State.

ESU (26-5), which has won 12 straight since an 89-64 loss at Shippensburg on January 31, has twice been regional runner-up in 1990 and 2014.

Shippensburg (25-7) is also pursuing its first regional title and had its first NCAA Tournament victory last year.

ESU, the region's No. 2 seed, has advanced to the regional final with wins vs. No. 7 Gannon (78-69) and No. 6 West Chester (90-76).

Shippensburg, the No. 5 seed, hasn't trailed in the regional in wins vs. No. 4 West Liberty (98-66) and No. 1 Virginia State (77-58).

The regional champion advances to the NCAA DII Elite Eight in Sioux Falls, S.D., which will be held March 20-24.
