EAST STROUDSBURG – Lauren Lister totaled 28 points on 11 of 15 shooting from the floor, and Alayah Hall added 24 points and six assists to lift Millersville to a 91-76 victory over East Stroudsburg University in a PSAC quarterfinal matchup at Koehler Fieldhouse on Wednesday.
The Marauders (17-11) advance to play at West No. 1 seed IUP in the Final Four on Saturday, while ESU ends its season with a final record of 16-11.
Senior guard
Imani Brown finished with 29 points, tied for the second-most ever by an ESU player in the postseason, in her final collegiate game. She hit 11 of 18 field goal attempts, including 3 of 8 from 3-point range. Sophomore guard
Tiffany Lapotsky added 23 points, while sophomore guard
Jordan Hertz had eight points and seven assists for the Warriors.
ESU's only lead of the contest was a 3-0 edge in the first minute after a 3-point play by freshman forward
Marlene Bassett. The Marauders followed with a 13-0 run to take an early double-digit advantage.
The lead was as large as 12 points early in the second quarter, but the Warriors shot 9 for 12 from the field in the frame to reduce the deficit down to 44-40 at the intermission. Brown had 16 of the team's 29 points, going a perfect 6 for 6 from the floor (2-2 3FG).
Millersville, though, responded with a 13-2 run out of the break to open up a 57-42 edge, and ESU never got within single digits for the remainder of the contest.
With her 29 points on Wednesday, Brown concludes her ESU career with 1,224 points, a figure which is tied with Gaye Chapman (1990-94) for eighth all-time in program history. She becomes the sixth Warrior to score at least 500 points in a season, as she totaled 501 points in her senior campaign.
Brown reached 20 points for an 11th time in 27 contests this season, and she was one point shy of a fourth 30-point game. Only ESU Hall of Famer Stacy Perryman (31 points vs. Clarion in the 1995 PSAC Final) has scored more than her total tonight in a postseason game.
Lapotsky, meanwhile, registered her third 20+ point game. She was two points away from her career-high of 25 points set in the season opener at New Haven on Nov. 10. Lapotsky netted 14 of her 23 points in the second half.
Lister had 15 points on 6 of 7 shooting in the final 20 minutes to help Millersville complete a three-game season sweep of ESU. The Marauders have won nine of their last 11 games dating back to Jan. 24.
Millersville will play IUP in a Final Four matchup on Saturday after the Crimson Hawks bested Seton Hill by a 67-52 final this evening. East No. 1 West Chester will face West No. 2 Edinboro in the other PSAC semifinal.
