EAST STROUDSBURG – The PSAC revealed the top cumulative team grade-point averages for each of its sponsored sports on Tuesday afternoon, with East Stroudsburg University's women's golf program among those which received recognition.
The Warrior golfers currently maintain a collective GPA of 3.68, placing them first out of the nine PSAC schools which participate in women's golf. They become the first ESU program to be honored since the PSAC formed the team GPA award initiative in 2011-12.
Earlier this year, the golf team received ESU's Team Academic Achievement Award for holding the highest GPA among the institution's 12 women's athletic programs.
The team maintained its strong academic performance during the most-recent spring 2017 semester, combining to tally a 3.675 GPA. All five student-athletes registered a GPA over 3.30, led by a 4.0 from
Brianna Carty, a freshman majoring in communication studies.
Carty, freshman
Amy Bergquist, sophomore
Caterina Daniels, junior
Mackenzie Mathna and junior
Samantha Miller were each named PSAC Scholar-Athletes back in June for holding cumulative GPA's over 3.25.
A total of eight PSAC schools earned at least one Top Team GPA award. The golf team's 3.68 GPA was the fourth-highest out of the 21 programs honored.
