EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University, which won its fourth straight PSAC women's soccer championship on Saturday, is the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region in the 2017 NCAA Division II Tournament and will host first and second-round action on Friday and Sunday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
ESU (15-3-3) has an opening round bye and will play the winner of Friday's first-round game between No. 3 WV Wesleyan (17-2-1) and No. 6 Gannon (13-4-2) on Sunday.
The Warriors are in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year, the fifth time under 11th-year head coach
Rob Berkowitz and the sixth time in program history (1997, 2008, 2014-17).
ESU won the 2015 Atlantic Region title and has reached at least the second round each of the last three years. The Warriors won last year's first-round game vs. Notre Dame (Ohio), 2-0, before falling 2-1 at West Chester in the second round.
West Chester (16-3-1) is the region's No. 1 seed and will play the winner of No. 4 Kutztown (16-3-1) and No. 5 Notre Dame (13-4-2).
The two teams that advance out of this weekend will play for the Atlantic Region title on Friday, November 17 at the top seed remaining in the East Region, which will host third round and national quarterfinal (Elite 8) action this fall. Adelphi is the East Region's top seed.
ESU and West Chester are the only Atlantic Region schools to advance to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last four years. WCU is in the tournament for the 15th straight year.
The Warriors are one of 10 programs nationally to qualify from 2014-17 - ESU, West Chester, Central Missouri, Colorado Mines, Columbus State, Dallas Baptist, Grand Valley State, LIU Post, Minnesota State-Mankato and Western Washington.
ESU won the PSAC title with a 1-0 victory at West Chester on Saturday on a goal by freshman midfielder
Haley Skove with 13:20 remaining.
Senior goalkeeper
Jules Harris was named PSAC Tournament MVP, making seven saves in both games over the weekend, and had her 40th career shutout in the conference final.
The Warriors' four straight conference titles, and six titles overall, are both the most in PSAC history.
