SHIPPENSBURG - Junior forward Bailey Quinn scored a pair of goals, lifting East Stroudsburg University to its second PSAC field hockey championship game appearance in three years with a 3-1 win over Millersville in the conference semifinals on Friday, hosted by Shippensburg.

ESU (17-3), the No. 3 seed, will play West Chester (14-6), the No. 4 seed, in the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m. WCU advanced with a 1-0 upset of Shippensburg in Friday's first semifinal.

After a flurry of goals midway through the first half, two by ESU and one by Millersville (14-5), Quinn scored an insurance goal on a penalty stroke 2:07 into the second half and the Warriors were rarely tested the rest of the way.

Quinn, an All-PSAC second team selection, opened the scoring on an assist by senior forward Melanie Shambaugh, a third team choice, 14:12 into the game.

Millersville's Aliza Mizak tied it just over three minutes later, assisted by Kathleen Bishop, but the Warriors were quickly back in front two minutes later - as junior midfielder Makenna Marhefka scored, assisted by senior back Sydney McCarthy, the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Year.

Quinn's penalty stroke made it 3-1 early in the second half.

Senior goalkeeper Halle Frisco, third team All-PSAC, had two saves for the Warriors. Kylee Bair had three saves for Millersville.

ESU held advantages of 13-7 in shots and 11-7 in penalty corners, including 7-2 in shots and 6-2 in corners in the second half.

ESU and Millersville had split the first two meetings, with ESU winning 2-0 on the road on September 20 and the Marauders winning 1-0 (2OT) at ESU on October 11. Millersville was 11-1 in its previous 12 games entering Friday.

Quinn's two goals give her a team-leading 12 goals on the season. McCarthy extended her season totals to 10 goals and 11 assists for a team-best 31 points, while anchoring a defense with a 65-18 goal differential.

Sunday's PSAC championship game will be ESU's fourth in program history. The Warriors won their first title in 2015, 1-0 vs. Millersville, and were conference runner-up in 2001 and 2010.

West Chester has won two PSAC championships in seven years since rejoining the PSAC, capturing titles in 2012 and 2014. The Golden Rams played in their seventh straight semifinal, and had been eliminated in the semifinal round in each of the last two years.

ESU improves to 51-11 in the last three years, and is 62-20 since the start of 2014 to extend the school record for wins by a four-year class.
