EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University standout hurdler
Steven Morgan has been named the PSAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year for his performance during the 2014 outdoor season, it was announced Wednesday.
Morgan (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) won the PSAC title in the 110m hurdles, ran on ESU's third-place 4x100m relay and helped the Warriors break a 34-year-old record in the shuttle hurdles this spring.
He won the 110m hurdles title in 14.69, an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time and the second-fastest in the PSAC this year. He broke ESU's freshman record and turned in the event's third-fastest time in school history.

Derrick Washington in breaking the shuttle hurdles record on April 25 at the Penn Relays. The quartet clocked 59.81, breaking a mark of 60.74 set in 1980.
During the indoor season, Morgan was second in the PSAC in the 60m hurdles (8.34), which ranks third in school history.
Morgan is ESU's first-ever men's freshman of the year. His selection gives ESU at least one major award winner in men's track and field for six straight years, most recently
Matt Tholis (outdoor field athlete of the year) in 2013.
