EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior Ian Melhorn has been named East Stroudsburg University's Championship Award Guys Athlete of the Week after setting the school record in the 60m dash at the Mountain Hawk Invite at Lehigh on Saturday.

Melhorn (York/Eastern York), who was named the PSAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week the previous week, ran a time of 7.00 seconds to knock one-hundredth of a second off the record of 7.01 set by former teammate Asher Ashfield last season. He also anchored the 4x400m relay with a split of 50.0 seconds to a second-place finish in 3:26.25.

Melhorn set the 60m dash record for the second time in his career with a performance that marked the 10th time the standard has been tied or lowered in the last five seasons.

Last week at Kutztown, he hit the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard in the 60m with a time of 6.53 in the 55m dash – which is adjusted to 6.95 seconds for qualifying purposes.

He won the 55 and 200 in the meet at Kutztown and was second in the 60 in Saturday's meet at Lehigh. His time of 22.58 in the 200 at Kutztown is the second-fastest in the PSAC this season.

Melhorn holds an All-America certificate in the 4x100m relay in 2010 and has contributed to four school record-setting relay teams in his career at ESU – the 4x100 and 4x200 outdoors, and 4x200 and 4x400 outdoors.
