EAST STROUDSBURG – A total of 52 student-athletes from East Stroudsburg University received Academic Achievement Awards from the Division II Athletic Directors Association for the 2009-10 academic year, it has been announced.
Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 through at least four semesters of college work while competing in an intercollegiate sport to be eligible for recognition. The Warriors placed 52 student-athletes on the list for the second straight year and had 44 recipients in 2007-08.
ESU's list includes:
* 3 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans – Matt Freed (football), Toric Robinson (men's soccer) and Paul Wagner (men's track & field)
* 8 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selections – Freed, Robinson, Wagner, Kailyn Buckley and Lindsay Foder (women's soccer), Drew Miller (men's track & field) and Trina Carito and Janelle Smith (women's track & field)
* 4 PSAC “Top 10” Award recipients – Foder, Freed, Robinson and Wagner
* 3 of the 4 major award winners at the Athletic Awards Banquet – Andy Heimbach (Men's Senior Athlete), Niki Pasquarella (Womens' Senior Scholar-Athlete) and Wagner (Men's Senior Scholar-Athlete)
* 16 All-PSAC selections
