EAST STROUDSBURG – Juniors
Katie D'Ambrosia and
Jamie Ferrigno and sophomore
Amanda Kaufman all represent East Stroudsburg University on the All-PSAC East women's tennis team for the 2010 season, it was announced Tuesday.
D'Ambrosia and Ferrigno were selected as a doubles team for the third straight year. D'Ambrosia also earned her second career selection in singles for her play at the No. 2 spot for the Warriors; she was the PSAC East Freshman of the Year and an all-conference singles player in 2008.
Kaufman, last year's Freshman of the Year, earned her second straight nod on the All-PSAC singles team and has been ESU's top singles player since last spring.
D'Ambrosia (Broomall/Marple Newtown) and Ferrigno (West Grove/Avon Grove) were 19-6 in doubles this year, 17-4 in duals, and posted a 3-1 record against the PSAC East. They have a 45-21 career record in their three years together, going 10-8 last season in their first year at No. 1 and 15-7 at No. 2 as freshmen in 2007-08.
In singles, D'Ambrosia compiled a 17-6 overall record and 16-4 showing at No. 2 singles in the Warriors' duals. She has competed at the second spot in each of her first three years and was 12-7 in duals (13-8 overall) as a freshman to earn her first career All-PSAC honor two years ago.
Kaufman (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) has played all but six of her 35 career dual matches at the No. 1 spot for ESU and was 12-9 this season. She posted records of 14-10 in singles and 9-9 in doubles as a freshman to follow D'Ambrosia as the Warriors' second Freshman of the Year selection in as many years.
ESU went 14-8 this season, including a 5-4 win over West Virginia Wesleyan (No. 5 ITA Atlantic Region). The Warriors finished in a tie for third in the PSAC East after winning 5-4 at West Chester on April 13 and also had conference wins over Cheyney and Millersville.
