EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team will hold its annual “Pink Zone” event in support of the ongoing fight against breast cancer when the Warriors host West Chester on Saturday, January 30 at 1 p.m.
All proceeds raised by the “Pink Zone” event will benefit the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, a local non-profit organization, with funds generated by the Warriors helping to support breast cancer survivors and their families in Pennsylvania.
The Warriors will be wearing pink t-shirts for warm-ups and donning pink socks donated by Schuylkill Valley Sports when they host West Chester at 1 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse. “Pink Zone” t-shirts will be available for purchase at the contest to benefit the cause.
The ESU field hockey team, along with coaches
Sandy Miller and
Jane Koeniges, will be in attendance to present a check at halftime to Dolly Woody, the Executive Director of the Northeast Pennsylvania affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. These funds were raised at their Think Pink Day event which was held in late October.
The WBCA “Pink Zone” initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
The Warriors' players are seeking donations for a flat amount or by purchasing t-shirts to benefit the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. More information on the “Pink Zone” event can be obtained by contacting ESU women's basketball graduate assistant
