EAST STROUDSBURG – Freshman
Frank Fezza is this week's Championship Award Guys Athlete of the Week at East Stroudsburg University after winning the Don Cathcart Invitational and leading the Warriors to the team championship on Saturday in Salisbury, Md.
Fezza (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) is the second straight cross country runner to earn ESU's Athlete of the Week, joining freshman
Rose Mascoli, who finished second for the ESU women last weekend. Fezza and Mascoli both set ESU freshmen records at the meet.
The Warriors had six of the top nine finishers in the men's race against a field that included 11 schools and 107 athletes. Fezza's time of 25:34 was more than a minute faster than the previous best time by a Warriors' freshman at the course at Winter Place Park, shattering the record of 26:48 set by Darryl Brown in 2000.
